Snowshoeing is a perfect activity for those who wish to explore winter mountains in Norway without the need to know any special skills. If you know how to walk, then you also know how to snowshoe! What can be better way to get to know the beauties of Hardanger region covered in snow? However, walking in the deep snow without any equipment can be a nightmare. That is why we love snowshoes! They enable you walk on top of the snow and give you a better grip on slippery or icy surfaces.
With snowshoes it is suddenly possible to discover new worlds.
Your guide for the day will meet you at the agreed starting point for your adventure. There you will learn about the basics about walking with snowshoes and movement in snow. After the intro part, you start tour in a scenic winter landscape. Snow hangs heavily on the branches, the waterfalls and lakes are frozen, the fresh mountain air fills your lungs. It feels like life is paused just for a little while and you have time to take in all the impressions.
We have a set of various routes that are suitable for snowshoeing. The views vary depending on the exact location of your adventure.
Our most used popular tour has the meetup in Skjeggedal. From this location we can reach many nice viewpoints, to the west you will find views towards the Hardangerfjord and the Folgefonna glacier. And to the east views towards Ringedalen lake and the area of Trolltunga. The route and lenght can be adjusted to your request.
On this tour we often make a visit to our Trolltunga Gateway Cabin at Mågelitopp, lunch, hot drinks, barbeque on request, and enjoy the sun from the cabin terrasse. The return down to Skjeggedal will be on snowracer.
In any case, you will get to know the Hardanger region. Here are examples of starting locations for your adventure: Lofthus, Skjeggedal, Røldal, Seljestad, Reinsnos, Buerdalen.
