To master the “art” of ski touring takes time. Why not combine it with exploring the beauties of the Hardanger region? Come and see for yourself, how the mountains and fjords stand out even more with the winter touch!
The attractions of the Hardanger region are simply impressive during the winter season, and perfect for alpine ski touring. This tour is for beginners or intermediates who wish to build up skills in order to go ski touring on their own in the future. As a benefit, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of snow-covered mountains, crystal clear fjords and impressive frozen lakes!
Your qualified and experienced guides will take you on a tour the pristine winter mountains and introduce you to a basic set of skills. Learn for example how to move more efficiently on the uphill, how to choose the terrain and assess avalanche risk. Most of the tours take place close to Røldal Skisenter, Reinsnos or Haukeliseter, but the precise program and location vary based on the conditions and your own personal wishes. We are happy to adapt the tour to your set of skills and preferences (please note that there might be other participants so sometimes compromises need to be found).

Meetup time and place will be agreed on in advance according to the participants wishes and conditions in the mountains.
During the winter, the conditions in the mountains are unpredictable. They can change at any time. Temperature can be deceiving as the wind plays an important role in how cold it feels. Similarly, the snow conditions have a great impact on how easy or hard the hike gets. Wet snow can stick to your skins and make it difficult to slide on.
A general thumb rule is: prepare for the worst conditions but do not overload your backpack, weight matters greatly when it is about saving energy. Use the onion look: layers that can easily be taken on and off. On a sunny day remember that the snow reflects the sun light which makes it stronger – sunscreen and sunglasses are essential!
We do not cancel tours due to bad weather. Even if the conditions look harsh, they can also turn out to be much better once we reach the mountains. The only times we cancel is when the bad weather becomes dangerous weather. We will inform you in case of cancellation. Please read our cancellation policies for more information.
